In addition to our research and consultancy activities, we offer four types of service:
  • Benchmarking analysis: a family of benchmarking services that ensure future strategies are underpinned by a clear and shared understanding of current conditions. Our Local Futures Audit reports provide a comprehensive analysis of an area's economic, social and environmental conditions, set within a national context.
  • Future drivers of change: successful strategies anticipate the future. Local Futures provides resources for identifying 'drivers of change' and creating future scenarios, assessing the implications and impacts for localities.

  • Vision and strategy: long term visions should be shaped and understood by a range of local stakeholders. Local Futures has a proven process for working with organisations and partnerships to develop long term visions and strategies for their area.
  • Monitoring and evaluation: measuring outcomes, rather than outputs, is key to the effective monitoring of strategies. Local Futures has developed a family of web-based research and benchmarking services that can be used to monitor economic and social development, at a regional and local level.
Many of the resources and content used in our work are also made available to clients via our Local Knowledge on-line system.

Finally, we have grown a strong and extensive community of interest, especially around our work on the knowledge economy and other key drivers of change. Our Local Futures Network supports this community and provides a unique resource for clients who want easy access to our work. It also provides access to other organisations who are working with Local Futures to shape their own local futures.
