Place Profiles
Place Profiles are electronically created reports that provide a high-level analysis of an area. Reports can be generated at a sub-regional, district and ward level, on a range of economic, social and environmental themes. Private Space subscribers have the facility to include their own locally sourced data within the Local Knowledge web platform, effectively creating their own Local Information System at a low price.
Localities Service
We are offering a new localities service, to help Local Authorities make better sense of their areas. This service provides a timely response to the localism agenda: to create areas for improved understanding of local areas and issues; increase community empowerment; and better deliver services to citizens. By conducting an in-depth analysis of the economic, environmental and social condition of wards and neighbourhoods within a district, we provide recommendations for which areas can be combined into more manageable localities.
The work to create recommended localities is based on three stages:
1. A detailed ward and neighbourhood audit, where performance is assessed according to how the areas score on a range of economic, social and environmental well-being indicators.
2. Three hierarchical cluster analyses, one for each set of economic or social or environmental indicators. This analysis produces initial groupings of areas.
3. A final validation stage which looks at how the groupings compare to the Output Area Classification and recommends options for final geographical boundaries.
We can also provide follow-up support to help you analyse these localities.
